What we do
In addition to working to implement innovation across the three key themes; Maternal and Infant Health and Care; Patient Safety; Long Term Conditions the YH HIEC also works collectively to:
Engage with members and key stakeholders
You will see from our who we are pages that we engage with our members and stakeholders through our governance and membership arrangements. The HIEC themes also have their own steering groups, members etc.
In addition to the more formal governance we also organise and attend events to engage with members and key stakeholders. For details of forthcoming activities visit our events pages.
On 30 January 2012 we held an event for our members and stakeholders in Leeds. Over 140 colleagues attended the event; hearing from key speakers, participating in workshops about the HIEC work and hearing from colleagues in the NHS who are working with the HIEC teams to deliver change in their organisations, feeding back their views into the current and future education and innovation arrangements and on future priorities.
We would like to thank all those people who attended and participated in the event and helped to make the day a success. The outcomes and feedback are now available.
Influence
Through our HIEC Board and wider membership we have an excellent network of senior leaders, managers and staff whose voice can collectively have a strong influence on emerging plans nationally and regionally. In addition to meetings with key influencers in the region we also regularly respond to key consultations on behalf of our members. Our most recent responses include:
- Health Committee Inquiry into Education, Training and Workforce Planning – December 2011
- NHS Chief Executive Innovation Review – Response from The Y& H HIEC Board – August 2011
- Response to Educational Outcomes Framework
We are not currently responding to any open consultations but if there is an issue that you think the HIEC should be influencing or a consultation we should be responding to please let us know by e-mailing [email protected]
Share Learning
Through our networks and the delivery of the theme work we are consistently aquiring and sharing key learning about the adoption and spread of innovation more generally.
Feedback from our members is that not only is it useful to strengthen the implementation of the themes work to share this learning across the HIEC but that the learning may be helpful other colleagues more widely. As a result we have published what we hope will be the first in a series of briefings summarises our key learning on specific topics which we hope will help you in your own work to change the practices and behaviours of yourself and your team to improve quality. The first of these is the HIEC approach to behaviour change briefing.
