Missed oportunity to promote skin to skin. Even though you have a mother sat on a birth ball, dad isn't actually supporting her as he's on his phone and not even looking at the mother. "Welcome to your labour ward" (Words) Not eye catching enough "The best midwife you can be" Won't open, so unable to make comments, sorry “Welcome to your labour ward” (Pictures)

I worry that the tone of the poster might lead to some midwives feeling "got at" or not good enough. How about replacing the instructions with praise. E.g. You are a BRILLIANT midwife... You put yourself in their shoes... You listen to her story... You discuss choices and options... and so on. Then midwives can feel valued for all the time and energy they already put into doing these things - and remember to do it more! “The best midwife you can be”

The mother is holding her baby wrapped in horizontal hold rather than frog like on her chest/abdomen which is not really what we try and promote. Also under support. the dad is not supporting his partner ...he is using his mobile! Although we know mobiles are used a lot in the labour rooms it may have been better to show him rubbing her back! I developed a skin to skin story whilst working at Chesterfield hospital. This tells the story of how important skin to skin is and its importance of maintaining it. Email me if you want to see a sample. Mandy I feel you have missed a perfect opportunity to promote skin to skin after birth.
