Support for two new Telehealth deployment sites
The challenge
During the first year of the LTC Telehealth project we established that a number of service providers were keen to embark on telehealth delivery but needed some additional support and expertise to implement the new service models.
The solution
A successful bid for Regional Innovation Funding has enabled us to offer short-term input to two sites to help them to manage the Telehealth implementation process and address the barriers to change. We will assist them in developing a project plan and addressing workforce development issues. We are currently in the process of developing a third site.
Our support will be based on evidence generated by other implementations, including the national Whole Systems Demonstrator (WSD) project.
The detail
We’re delighted that Tim Ellis from the WSD project is going to be bringing his knowledge to inform our work with the new local deployments.
In early February we confirmed the sites as;
- Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust / NHS North Yorkshire and York – heart failure deployment.
- NHS East Riding of Yorkshire / East Riding of Yorkshire’ Council / Humber NHS Foundation Trust – deployment for people with complex physical healthcare needs and cognitive impairment.
The projects are still at a very early stage but we look forward to working in partnership with these NHS trusts. Each of the projects will result in a formal evaluation in spring/ summer 2012. We will however be sharing emerging learning from the sites from December 2011.
