About Maternal & Infant Health & Care
This HIEC Maternal and Infant Health and Care programme focuses on improving care in neonatal units and in admission in labour in Yorkshire and Humber. The work includes developing education resources to support infant feeding, implementing sustainable, evidence-based change in key aspects of care in neonatal units and during admission in labour across Yorkshire and Humber region and working in partnership around mothers in prison; thereby addressing health inequalities, improving health outcomes, and enhancing service quality and productivity.

Focus on ‘Celebrating Success Event’
Celebrating success: This innovative multi- disciplinary conference focussed on implementation of evidence based change at scale in maternity and neonatal services across the Yorkshire and Humber region, aiming to create sustainable change across sectors and to tacke inequalities in health.
The conference was held at the stem centre at the university of york. It included national and international speakers including:
- Professor Caroline Homer from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia
- Professor Mary Renfrew, Co- Director of the YH HIEC MIHC theme, Director of MIRU, University of York
- Dr Stephen Stericker, Implementation Consultant, NICE
- Dr Helen Duncan, Programme Director, CHIMAT
- Professor William McGuire, Co-Director of the YH HIEC MIHC theme, and HYMS
The day saw presentations on:
- Getting it Right from the Start – Collaborations for sustainable change
- Tackling Inequalities – Meeting the needs of vulnerable women and families
- Using audio visual resources to create and sustain change
