Patient Safety is an issue which stretches across grades and professions and affects everyone working in healthcare. We, the Yorkshire and Humber HIEC Patient Safety Team, are keen to not only share our resources but also to bring together a network of interested colleagues to share their own learning.
Safety in Numbers
Safety in Numbers is a new network which was launched on 15 May 2012 for anyone in Yorkshire and Humber interested in improving patient safety in their team, unit or organisation.
Whether you are an individual, a team, an organisation or a large regional group, we will give support connecting you with each other and help to navigate your way through the various structures and information to get the knowledge and support you need, when and where you need it.
Joining the network is free and will mean you can:
- Connect with colleagues across the region working on similar patient safety issues
- Access free resources currently including SAVI videos and Introduction to Patient Safety on-line module
- Participate in our Patient Safety On-line Forum
- Receive up to date news and updates on all things patient safety through Twitter and regular e-bulletins including:
- Signposting resources
- National policy announcements
- The latest research
- New resources in education, implementation and information
- Case studies and best practice – browseable across 9 key topics
- Influence the regional and national patient safety agenda with your ‘hot topics’ and priorities

Patient Safety Shared Learning Event – With Masterclass
This took place on 15th May 2012. The Sarah Fraser Masterclass tought us the value of networking and introduced some of the latest tools to support this. Innovation prize winners were announced and ten teams from across the patch presented their work to improve patient safety in parallel sessions. Find out more here.
