Patient Safety Innovation Prize

The patient safety innovation prize is the first in a series of competitions run by the patient safety theme of the Yorkshire and Humber HIEC to encourage the spread and adoption of innovation and sharing learning in patient safety across the region.

We would like to invite you to submit your innovation to a patient safety competition to showcase your innovation and its implementation – with a chance of your organisation winning up to £1000 first prize.

The closing date for our first competition is Friday 4th May 2012.

The prize will be announced at the Safety in Numbers network launch and Patient Safety masterclass on 15th May 2012 .

Judging criteria:

  1. Local innovation (Yorkshire and the Humber)
  2. Addressing a patient safety problem
  3. Involving appropriate people to develop and support the innovation
  4. Demonstrate improvement, including early results
  5. Potential for benefits elsewhere

Not sure if you have an innovation? We consider an innovation to be any of the following:

  • Finding a solution to a safety problem
  • A new way of staff working together to deliver safe care
  • A new application of existing approaches
  • A resource to help staff to deliver safe care
  • A new invention
  • New training materials
  • Any change for the better
