Getting it right from the start
We are working across the Yorkshire and Humber region to implement the recommendations emerging from the Evidence into Practice consultation we conducted over the last year. All maternity and neonatal units in Yorkshire and the Humber are collaborating with this programme of work across acute and community settings to implement the practical strategies and develop resources to support implementation.
The work is organised into two topics, care at admission in labour and promoting bonding, attachment and breast feeding in neonatal units. The focus is on:
- increasing breastfeeding and skin-to-skin care in neonatal units
- improving quality of care and decreasing inappropriate interventions in admission in labour
- safeguarding vulnerable babies and childbearing women
- improving women’s experiences
